In reply to Dan Ehrlich's question on subnet size:

Dan,

GE has a class A number that we subnet using 14 bits for the subnet number
and 10 bits for the host number, thus giving us a mask of 255.255.252.0 or
FF.FF.FC.0. It works fine on all the machines we have which includes sun,
apollo, symbolics, ultrix vax, excelan, wollongong, bridge, proteon, and
many others.
