Problems with AUX and Sun4 server

I am running AUX 1.1 as a host to a Sun4 server via ethernet.
Things seem to work OK for a while but every so often my
AUX seems to "hang" What I type is buffered but the screen
shows nothing. After about 10 to 20 seconds things go
back to normal. This happens very freauently. Apparently
the Sun4 puts the AUX host on "wait".
Also when I shutdown the AUX system I get a message:
"Network is unreachable"
Any suggestions as to what I might be doing wrong.
By the way our Sun4 has plenty of memory (32MB) and
plenty of disk space and no considerabl;e workload.
AUX is running with 8MB of memory.
