IBM XENIX vs. MS-DOS on a Sperry IT

I've been rather successfully running IBM XENIX on a Sperry IT (why IBM?,
because it was there) but one feature of XENIX that I'd very much
like to work but doesn't is the DOS startup option when the XENIX loader
comes up. Whenever I try to get the loader to boot up MS-DOS (3.1)
I get a message stating that it can't find the DOS partition. I've
tried diddling a little with the MS-DOS partition boot block but
haven't had any luck in fooling the loader. Anyone have any suggestions
as to the feasibility of getting this to work? XENIX, once loaded, has
no problem reading the MS-DOS files using the various DOS utilities that
come with the system. The only problem I've encountered is at the
load phase. Since IBM XENIX is the only XENIX I've got, please don't
suggest buying SCO, Microport, etc. even if doing so would solve this
problem and scads of others I haven't encountered yet. Thanks for your
kind help.--
